Brad Turner creates sculptural and functional glass objects with a strong focus on diversity, craftsmanship, and conceptual originality.
Brad Turner grew up in Calgary, Alberta, and began his creative career at the Alberta College of Art and Design, graduating with distinction in 2006. He has since evolved into an accomplished artist, designer and craftsperson. Turner attributes much of his success to the four year artist residency he completed at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto shortly after graduation. In that period he worked alongside an amazing group of artists, and developed the skill and conceptual philosophies for which he is currently recognized.
In 2013 Turner received his Master of Fine Arts from Alfred University, NY, one of the United States’ top MFA programs for glass art, and in the years since, he has travelled and worked in artist residencies in Belgium and Norway.
Brad is currently the Studio Manager at Terminal City Glass Co-op in Vancouver, BC. Turner has been recognized with 25 industry awards, including generous support from the BC Achievement Foundation, BC Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, Craft Ontario, as well as receiving the 2013 RBC Canadian Award for Glass.
He was recently named one of Canada’s “30 Product Designers Leading the Charge” by Azure Magazine, and has twice been published in the Corning Museum of Glass’ New Glass Review, the internationally renowned museum’s annual account of “100 important works in glass”. He has exhibited within Canada, Belgium, Denmark, South Korea and the United States.
