Collectors: Talk & Tour | Brian Kennedy and Peter Ting

About The Conversation Series

We had the great pleasure of presenting the 2021 virtual Conversation Series to our festival audience. We now present the series on our Vimeo channel to listen to at your leisure.

Held via Zoom, the Conversation Series is a key component of Crafted Vancouver’s annual festival platform.

Through the Conversation Series we strive to foster public appreciation of outstanding craft-based work.  We are committed to featuring diverse craft-based artists and designers working in multiple disciplines across the craft continuum, from ancestral, tribal and traditional to leading-edge contemporary.

By providing a festival platform for established and emerging craft-based artists & designers and the gallerists, curators, collectors and other cultural partners who support and represent their work, the Conversation Series contributes important discourse on craft’s enduring role in our society.

Maximising the benefits of a virtual platform, the Conversation Series offer a variety of experiences. Whilst ostensibly a cooperation between Canadian and UK partners, the craft artists, gallerists, curator and  collectors contributing to the 2021 series are truly international, spanning a range of craft materials and specialisms with roots and references from across the globe.

About Collectors: Talk & Tour

Join private collectors, curator Brian Kennedy and gallerist Peter Ting of Ting-Ying Gallery along with moderator Isabelle Fish of Rue Pigalle as we go on an exclusive virtual tour of Brian’s and Peter’s London, UK, home. Avid collectors, they will select favourite pieces from their outstanding collection to present to us. Brian and Peter are a London power couple in the world of fine crafts. Their apartment is a cornucopia of exquisite finds amassed over years of careful sleuthing and coup de coeur. They very graciously agreed to open their home to us and share the stories behind some of their favourite pieces.

“I choose to be surrounded by object that hold memories and radiate a presence. What is important to me is that these objects relate to each other, despite the fact that they come from different cultures, and times. Always trust your eye and your gut,” says Peter.
