Mich DuVernet
Mich DuVernet grew up in Ottawa where he studied fine arts and then mechanical engineering. There he started the Bakery Design Group with two other friends, specializing in lighting designs, two of which are manufactured in Italy. His other career as a ski guide brought him to the interior mountains of BC where his lighting design work continued through his own company Barn-barn design, while his creative scope evolved to encompass stage and art installations for music festivals. Lighting designs have been presented in New York’s Design Week, IDS Vancouver, as a finalist of the L A M P design competition and Venice Italy during the Biennale of Architecture, 2018.

I embrace a direct hands-on approach to design and creating. I have an appreciation for all materials and I enjoy merging old-school techniques with new methods. Working in that place between the traditional and the technological is perpetually inspiring and challenging. Living in the mountains allows exposure to the wild elements and a connection to nature, which are daily inspirations for my creative explorations.
