Michelle Leone Huisman
Michelle Leone Huisman holds a BFA from Ryerson University with Honors (1996). Her thesis work at Ryerson included a mixed media collection of Polaroid Transfers that was purchased by Polaroid Corporation.
Following her degree, Michelle moved West to Vancouver. Along the way, she served as photographer and guide for a river rafting outfit based on the Tatshenshini and Alsek rivers in the Yukon Territory. Shortly thereafter, her passion for travel, photography and adventure took her to Europe and South-East Asia. Arriving back in Vancouver, Michelle built a successful design business as a set decorator in the Film Industry and in home décor for fifteen years. After several years of selling her work in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Toronto, Michelle became inspired to expand her horizons in fine art photography and go back to her love of alternative processing.
Michelle processed her ‘Unexpected Collection’ (of broken spoons ) as tri-colour gum bichromate over palladium. She will be presenting two solo shows in 2021. The first in Vancouver at Fabrique St. George and then later this year in Toronto at The Bob Carnie Gallery.
