Westerly Handmade Shoes
Westerly Handmade Shoes was founded in 2012 by shoemaker Renée Macdonald to meet the local need for properly-fit, well-made shoes.
Westerly’s foundational years were spent creating bespoke footwear, all pairs being made to the measurements and specifications of their intended wearer. Bespoke and made to measure footwear continue to be fundamental services at Westerly, even upon extending our services to include made to order footwear in a set range of sizes.
All Westerly footwear is made from start to finish in our east Vancouver studio. The open-concept studio workshop, is where clients come for measurements & progress fittings, and where shoes can be seen at any stage of construction.
Westerly’s are built to look good, feel good and to last.
They are made to be worn and loved.

As a shoemaker, my greatest inspiration in both design and execution is movement. A shoe may be beautiful perched on a shelf, but for it to have grace and comfort while in movement is the bigger challenge. Fitting the shoe, selecting appropriate materials and developing a design complementary to the foot’s needs are elemental in my process to create footwear that moves in step with the wearer.
