Founded in 2003, the Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Collective was a happenstance convergence of 5 emerging artists keen to create an alternative space to exhibit our work. Little did we know what that effort would grow into! Through our efforts of creative placemaking over the last 17 years much was accomplished.
- We created and hosted local cultural events that provided a stage for professional makers to meet their audience and attract patrons that could understand and appreciate the intent and value of the work presented.
- We built community by introducing makers to makers, makers to supporters, arts advocates to members of the creative community, and small businesses to new opportunities through our events.
- We’ve fostered the local economy by advocating for support of small and independent creative businesses and facilitating relationships that extend beyond our events.
- We supported the development and ongoing sustainability of the independent maker by providing a professional context for their art, craft and/or design, as well as an environment that encourages sharing with and learning from peers.
December 2019 marked our final annual event after many years of successfully collaborating. As part of Craft Year 2020 we are hosting a retrospective exhibition of many of the artists we’ve featured over the last 17 years/20 events to celebrate the achievements of our collective and the community we’ve built.
