Ted Boey
Based in North Vancouver, Ted Boey Wood produces fine furniture in the Krenov style. With a focus on using local materials, each plank is carefully considered for the piece at hand. Smaller pieces are often made from off-cuts from larger work. In this way, waste is limited and material that would normally be discarded leads to creative solutions and unique pieces and designs. Attention to grain graphics, and simple clean lines allow the wood’s natural beauty to be the focus.
The work is primarily done with hand tools. While machines are used to do some of the grunt work, every surface is worked to finish by hand.

I want to create furniture to suit people’s particular need. This could be a cabinet or box to house some collection of objects, or a desk designed to someone’s work situation. It is exciting to plan a new project that is unique and has an intended purpose. More than anything, I love to take the time to relish working in the small details by hand.
