Event Details
Beaux Arts is a group exhibition presented by the Vancouver Metal Arts Association and the Italian Cultural Centre. The exhibition is dedicated to the sculptural form, big and small, in celebration of an art movement that has inspired landmarks and monuments the world over.
The year 2021 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Italian-Canadian artist Charles Marega, whose work is characterized by his devotion to this artistic practice and perspective. The selected artists come together to dissect the architectural features, explore the emerging materials and contemplate the influence of the classical Beaux Arts in a contemporary sculptural and wearable form.
The Beaux Arts strive to merge classical forms with non-traditional use of materials, methods and technologies. This exhibition features metal and jewellery artists who bridge, and meld, the world of the traditional with the new and innovative.
