A private guided walking tour and visit to the Musqueam Cultural Centre Gallery led by a member of the Musqueam Community. The Gallery at the Musqueam Cultural Education Resource Centre features 1300 square feet of space where the Musqueam people can share their history and culture, from their perspective. The gallery features exhibitions highlighting historic cultural objects, contemporary arts, and the sharing of Musqueam culture. This walking tour will take you through the land the Musqueam People have occupied for 4,000 years. Your guide will introduce you to the contemporary landscape of the Musqueam Indian Reservation, explain the changes over time, and show you Archaeology sites that date back 1,500 – 4,500 years BP. Musqueam was also once home to Chinese Market Gardens and your guide will tell you about the relationship between the Chinese and Musqueam through time. You will also have an opportunity to learn about public art installations created by Musqueam Community members.
