Come Celebrate with us! 25 Days in May
Opening Night of 2019 Crafted Vancouver festival
Please join Crafted Vancouver and special guests for an evening of celebration during the opening night of Crafted Vancouver. We are honoured to welcome our special guests, Canadian Senator Patricia Bovey, the Consul General of Mexico in Vancouver Berenice Díaz Ceballos, and Director of the Canadian Crafts Federation Maegen Black.
Enjoy a cocktail-style event with a Latin flair as we feature exceptional craft-based work for auction, international guest artisans along with Mexican-themed live entertainment & food.
“Spotlight On…” is a Crafted Vancouver Signature Event featuring a series of workshops, talks and cultural events highlighting contemporary and traditional crafts from a different part of the world each year. This year we are thrilled to invite a select group of skilled craftspeople from Mexico to participate in a unique exchange of culture and tradition with craft taking centre stage.
Curating our lives and investing in quality helps support craft and craftspeople in our local, national & global society and enables us to live a unique, environmentally sustainable lifestyle.
All proceeds from tonight’s fundraising event go toward supporting and expanding Crafted Vancouver’s local and international programming.
We cultivate an appreciation and demand for handcrafted quality.
Crafted Vancouver is a registered, not-for-profit, independent organization showcasing a curated programme of events under the Crafted Vancouver umbrella. The festival celebrates multiple craft disciplines in a fresh festival format and features exceptional contemporary and traditional craftsmanship and craft-based work by event partners who make, feature or sell fine craft.
Crafted Vancouver activates enriching craft connections.
Crafted Vancouver is the only month-long festival in North America designed to celebrate the vitality of our hand-crafted world. We are forging new ground and creating exciting opportunities in one big creative maker hub, taking place over 25 days each May. The festival draws together exceptional local, national & international artisans & designers, studios, galleries, museums, showrooms, shops & luxury retail, craft & design schools and member associations, making, exhibiting, supporting or selling fine craft-based work.
We believe skilled craft making offers a viable means of support and should be considered a meaningful career choice.
We are committed to supplying the means for young people to engage in craftsmanship opportunities in a meaningful way.
Our staff, volunteers, donors and sponsors enthusiastically champion the unique skills of fine craftsmanship. Our programming is based on the belief that craft makers contribute in giving us our sense of identity and continuity, providing a link from our past, through the present, and into the future. We believe that craft is not a trend; craft is relevant and enduring and we champion the unique skills of fine craftsmanship.
