What Do You Do at Crafted Vancouver?
I am a CAT (Crafted Advisory Team) member, helping to find ahhhmazingly talented people to showcase and promote. I have also co-curated with the lovely Renée Macdonald From the Studio: Connections, an off-site exhibition.
Describe Your Artistic Practice
I flow between, and knit together, the diverse practices of material exploration, environmental activism, and personal transformation. The resulting pieces can be meaningfully placed in aesthetic, personal and socio-environmental contexts, while simultaneously remaining playful, hopeful and suggestive of growth and life.
When I travel I always...
have a project to work on. When we took my mum to England I wove baskets out of Bindweed in every town we stayed in and a fedora style hat in Mousehole Cornwall, because we were there for 5 days so I could do a bigger project! And Last March I whittled my way around the North Island of New Zealand!
Favourite expression:
OHHMAAAAGAWD (like a valley grrl) or ahhhhmaaaazing! Because there’s a lot of ahhhhmazing in this world.
My favourite hike:
Circling Buntzen Lake
