What Do You Do at Crafted Vancouver?
FFABB Home was an Event Partner last year and I’ve recently joined the Crafted Advisory Team in hopes of being of service to this beautiful mission of Crafted Vancouver.
Describe Your Artistic Practice
I was raised in my mother’s upholstery shop and have always had an appreciation for craftsmanship, textiles and a big love for furniture. Shortly after leaving home and heading to the big city I started a company of my own and called it Fabulous Furnishings which is now in its 20th year of business. We proudly locally manufacture bespoke furniture, window treatments, and breathe new life into old pieces. Our work graces some of the most beautiful homes on the West Coast and look as good today as they did on Day 1. In 2019 I partnered with my long-term employee and dear friend Najeeb Dawary to start a sister company called Ffabb Home, a collection of well-made furniture staples available for purchase online, all manufactured in-house.
Inspired by:
I recently purchased a rural piece of land on a lake in the Majestic Hills. I am constantly dreaming and scheming plans for building our own cabin to create a magical place to get away to and let the mind wonder freely and be inspired to create. Being in nature is expansive for me and mixed with fulfilling my life-long dream of being a land baroness, my heart could explode some days!
Best live performance I've seen:
Judas Priest comes to mind. I've never been a follower of their music but was blown away by the quality of Rob Halford's voice and the incredible costume changes with every song. My friend Ray Brown in London has been making his wardrobe since day one and it was like being at a fashion show of his hand work.
My motto is:
Work hard. Laugh harder.
