Bruern Woods on the Oxfordshire Way on the first weekend of May when the forest floor is a carpet of heavily scented bluebells.

Favourite beach:

Porthmeor Beach in Cornwall with a sloping soft yellow sandy beach that provides a protected place to view the rolling and crashing waves. It has a tide that goes out for miles and comes back in mesmerizingly fast.

Favourite beverage:

First tasted at a tiny Persian café in Montreal: Fresh mint with Chinese jujubes, lemon and honey, steeped for 5 minutes in freshly boiled water and overflowing with mint.

Favourite object:

A little hippo made from Liberty textiles which sits on my bookshelf watching over me. I've had it since childhood.
