What Do You Do at Crafted Vancouver?
I just joined the CAT at Crafted Vancouver, representing ceramics. I also proposed an event for this year’s festival, and would have been planning, curating, and presenting it at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, where I was working as a programmer.
Describe Your Artistic Practice
I am a potter. I make utilitarian tableware with decorative elements, especially texture, pattern and colour.
Inspired by:
Bridget Catchpole, who brought the CAT to my attention. I love the way her mind bounces! And she always has a twinkle in her eye.
Books that changed my life:
The Hare with the Amber Eyes, by Edmund de Waal & The World Without Us, by Alan Weisman
My motto is:
When life gets busy, take the salami method: one slice at a time.
Pet Peeve:
Covid-19 litter. I mean, are you kidding me?
Current project:
Just finished reweaving the seats to two folding patio chairs, using upcycled mylar from used coffee bags. So fun!
