What Do You Do at Crafted Vancouver?

I'm one of the Crafted Advisory Team members for Fashion. And I'm organizing something pretty special for Crafted Vancouver next May...

Describe Your Artistic Practice

I own Street & Saddle, a clothing brand inspired by equestrian tailoring. We design and sew everything in our studio in Chinatown, with a focus on custom fits and unique luxury fabrics.

Inspired by:

My studio! It is a fully functioning miniature garment factory, combined with a boutique. I love that as customers come in to shop, they get to see clothing being made before their very eyes. It's unique, and took a lot of work and thought to put together, but it is absolutely my favourite place in the world.

Guilty pleasure:

Horses! I grew up riding, and so now every time I get to sneak out of the city to go visit friends' horses, it feels like an escape to a past life.

A book that changed my life:

I've read Shoe Dog by Phil Knight more than once. It's extremely well written, and it's fascinating to see that the founder of one of the world's biggest companies was, at the core, a passionate maker and designer.
