Describe Your Artistic Practice

I’m a wood-based creator working with species and materials found in the regions in which I work. My work blends the advantages of digital tools with traditional woodcraft joinery methods to create complex forms with simple shapes. The projects I seek out consist of connecting the human experience with material solutions in the context of physical spaces.

What Do You Do at Crafted Vancouver?

I run Made From Scraps as one of Crafted Vancouver’s featured events. I bring in the wood-craft perspective, and co-ordinate between CV and the Material Matters Lab at Emily Carr. I also represent the voice of New Craft - a combination of new technology with traditional craft practices.

Inspired by:

My grandfather Bob Daly. He had this ability to pick-up anything and know how to work with it. Whether it was a new sport or a set of tools, he understood how to perform within a variety of life's contexts. AND by SPACE. The shared workspace I run has a constant circulation of creation, curiosity, connection and culture. It’s inspiring to show up every day and learn from other’s experiences in life.

Best exhibition I saw this year:

100 Amigos @ El Kartel
